The Bulgarian government has decided to establish a new border checkpoint with Turkey. It will operate in the area north of the already existing Kapitan Andreevo-Kapikule border crossing point. The Kapitan Andreevo-Kapikule border crossing point is considered one of the busiest border crossing points in the world and is also known as "Europe's largest land border crossing point, connecting the European Union (EU) with Asia." the draft agreement on opening a border checkpoint.
The joint commission formed by the competent authorities of Bulgaria and Turkey will decide the issues related to the construction of the new border checkpoint, in particular the location of the routes, the number of border checkpoints, the new border control and its operation mode.
