Steve Wittkoff, special envoy of the US president, called the day of the return of the remains of the last hostage of the Palestinian Hamas movement historic.
On Monday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officially announced that there are no more Israeli hostages left in the Gaza Strip. The announcement came after the identification of the body of the last hostage, who was killed by Palestinian radicals on October 7, 2023 and kidnapped in Gaza, was confirmed.
US President Donald Trump stated that the return operation of the body of the last hostage from the Gaza Strip was an "incredible achievement", which many considered impossible.
"Yesterday was a historic day. The last hostage left in Gaza has been returned to his family in Israel... As of now, all 20 surviving and 28 dead hostages held in Gaza have been returned to their families," Wittkoff wrote on the X social network.
