The National Assembly of France (the lower house of the parliament) approved the bill, which prohibits the use of social networks by teenagers under the age of 15, reports Figaro newspaper.
116 deputies voted in favor of the bill. It was supported by representatives of centrist and right-wing parties, including Renaissance, Horizons, National Union and Les Républicains. Some deputies of the internal left-wing "Disobedient France" (La France Insoumise) party expressed their opposition. In total, 23 deputies did not support the bill.
The author of the bill is Laura Miller, deputy of the presidential "Renaissance" party. According to the publication, it aims to protect the mental health of young people from the influence of social networks.
The bill not only prohibits the use of social networks, but also limits the use of phones in higher schools.
