He called the recent statements of US Finance Minister Scott Besant "unnecessary and offensive". The authorized representative of the president emphasized that Venezuela "is not afraid of respectful relations with the United States", as long as they are built in accordance with international law and respect for the country's history.
Besant noted that the United States will govern Venezuela, control the sale of oil and other resources, and, if necessary, hold "free and fair elections" in the country.
