The United States is discussing the possibility of carrying out targeted strikes against Iran, aimed at Iranian officials and commanders, who, according to Washington, have something to do with the deaths of the protesters. This was reported by the Middle East Eye portal, referring to a source from one of the countries of the Persian Gulf.
According to the source, the USA may strike the Islamic Republic already this week, but the dates of the strikes are still under discussion. It is noted that chaotic discussions are taking place within the American administration regarding Iran's possible retaliatory steps.
A former employee of the US intelligence told the portal that in his opinion, based on the ongoing discussions in the US administration, the American leader Donald Trump "has not given up his desire to achieve a change of power in Iran".
Earlier, in an interview with Axios, Trump stated that the US has concentrated large forces in the vicinity of Iran, and also expressed confidence that Tehran is ready for dialogue and possible agreements with Washington.
