Georgia has announced its readiness to restore relations with the United States

Tbilisi is ready to restore the strategic partnership with Washington and is waiting for the decision of the American administration. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze informed journalists about this.

"You know the context of Georgian-American relations. That context is very difficult, it was formed by the administration of former US President Joe Biden. Let's see, we are patiently waiting. We have made a public statement that we are ready to restore the strategic partnership with the United States with a clean slate and a clear road map. We are waiting for the decision of the American administration," said Kobakhidze.

The relations between Georgia and the USA deteriorated significantly in 2024, after the adoption of the law on "foreign agents" in the country. On November 28 of last year, after Kobakhidze's announcement to freeze the process of starting negotiations on joining the European Union, the US State Department stopped the strategic partnership with the republic.

Even before the election of Donald Trump as the US president, the Georgian authorities have repeatedly stated that they hope for a change of power in the US and the resumption of relations with Washington.
