The Interior Ministry of the Syrian Transitional Government has taken control of the Al-Aqtan prison in Raqqa province in the north-east of the country, the security of which was previously provided by the Kurdish "Syrian Democratic Forces" (SDF) coalition.

According to the information of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the conditions of detention of prisoners are being studied, and specialized units of the anti-terrorist department have been formed in the institution to maintain security and order.
On Thursday, the process of withdrawing SDU fighters from the prison area began. According to the TV channel, around 800 Kurdish militiamen left the location and moved to the area of Ain al-Arab (Kobani).
