An employee of the Red Cross was killed during the riots in Iran

One employee of the Iranian Red Cross Society was killed during the recent riots in the northern city of Resht, 25 more employees were injured, and the financial damage to the organization exceeded 2.8 million dollars, Mojtaba Khaledi, the official representative of the society, told RIA Novosti.

The actions in Iran started at the end of December 2025 due to the devaluation of the national currency. Since January 8, in response to the calls of Reza Pahlavi, the son of the deposed caliph of old Iran, the protests turned into riots and were accompanied by slogans against the Iranian political order. On that same day, the Internet stopped working in the country.

"25 employees of the Red Cross were injured (in different parts of the country), one employee was killed in Resht," said Khaledi. The interlocutor of the agency added that 14 aid centers of Karmir Kesalus were attacked, 11 cars of the organization were damaged.
