Bloomberg: The US wants to lift restrictions on its military presence in Greenland

The US wants to renegotiate the defense agreement signed with Denmark in 1951 with the aim of removing any restrictions on its military presence in Greenland. This was reported by the Bloomberg agency, referring to its sources.

As noted, the current treaty requires Washington to "consult and inform" Denmark and Greenland before making any significant changes to US military operations or facilities in Greenland. Now the US wants to reformulate those provisions so that Washington's plans are not subject to any restrictions.

Whether Denmark and Greenland will agree to these changes is not yet known, Bloomberg notes. "Details of the deal will be published when all parties agree on them," White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly told the agency.
