The President of the Czech Republic stated that the European members of NATO should protect themselves and not rely on the USA

European NATO member countries should be able to independently ensure their security even in case of possible disagreements with the USA. This was announced by the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel.

"If for any reason the USA cannot participate in the defense of Europe or is not interested in it, we should have a hundred percent possibility of providing security on our own," TK agency quotes him as saying.

According to the President of the Czech Republic, the European Union has sufficient economic and military resources for independent defense. Pavel added that NATO would be interested in strengthening its European wing in order to achieve independence from the US in the field of security, even if the situation around Greenland does not aggravate relations within the alliance.
