Robert Safaryan was sentenced to 25 years in prison

The Military Court of the Second Western District sentenced Akhmajon Kurbonov to life imprisonment. He was the main suspect in the murder of Igor Kirilov, head of the radiation, chemical and biological defense forces, and his assistant, Major Ilya Polikarpov. Kurbonov will serve the first 10 years of his sentence in prison, Kommersant writes.

The three defendants accused of helping Kurbonov were sentenced to 18-25 years in prison. Batukhan Tochiyev was sentenced to 22 years in prison, of which he will serve the first eight years in prison. Ramazan Padiev was sentenced to 18 years in a maximum regime prison, of which he will serve the first six years in prison. Robert Safaryan was sentenced to 25 years in prison, of which he will serve the first nine years in prison. The accused were also ordered to pay compensation of 16.2 million rubles to the relatives of the deceased.

Depending on their roles, the defendants were found guilty of committing a terrorist attack, participating in a terrorist organization, and receiving training to carry out terrorist activities. They were also charged with illegal trafficking of explosives and preparation of an explosive device.

The murder took place in December 2024. The investigation concluded that Safaryan brought the explosive materials from Poland, which he later handed over to Kurbonov. On December 17, the criminal left a scooter equipped with a bomb at the entrance of General Kirilov's apartment. As the officers exited the building, the explosives detonated, killing the two soldiers. Then the criminal fled to the apartment prepared by Tochiev and Padiev.

Akhmajon Kurbonov was found guilty. He received $4,900 in cryptocurrency for the crime. Robert Safaryan partially admitted the guilt, while Tochiev and Padiev did not admit the guilt. The defense plans to appeal the verdict.
