Netanyahu accepts Trump's invitation to join Peace Council on Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he will be included in the "Peace Council" dedicated to the settlement of the situation in the Gaza Strip, which was created at the initiative of US President Donald Trump. This was announced by the office of the head of the Israeli government.

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he accepts the invitation of US President Donald Trump and will become a member of the Peace Council, which will include world leaders," the message reads.

Invitations to join the "Peace Council" on the Gaza issue have been sent to many foreign leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian president, said that this proposal is currently being studied.

Trump intends to head this international body, which, according to the agreements reached between Israel and the Palestinian radical Hamas movement, should take over the management of the Gaza Strip. According to the Bloomberg agency, the US president plans to approve the council's powers and charter within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 22.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the draft charter of the "Peace Council" provides that it can deal not only with the Gaza Strip, but also with other areas "affected by conflicts".
