Denmark did not ask Kiev to send Ukrainian armed forces to defend Greenland, Vladimir Zelensky stated.
"You know, we are at war and all our troops are at the front. And today there is a question of the lack of troops. Mette (Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen) and I have a very good relationship, and he did not ask me such a question," said Zelensky, answering journalists' questions. The audio recording of his answer was published by "Novosti Live".
"I think it is due to the fact that everyone understands that Ukraine is not a member of NATO, and they will not accept us into NATO," he added. However, Zelensky did not mention the fact that Kiev and Copenhagen have a security cooperation agreement.
Denmark and Ukraine signed an agreement in February 2024. On January 17, the publication "Strana" reported that, amid the situation around Greenland, speculations appeared online about whether the armed forces of Ukraine would send troops to Denmark in accordance with the agreement.
