The United States has expanded the list of individuals and organizations included in the sanctions against Iran, according to the announcement of the Foreign Assets Control Office of the US Treasury Department.
Sanctions were imposed on 21 individuals and organizations, as well as one tanker, for their links to the Shiite military-political movement Ansar Allah (Houthis), which rules northern Yemen.
Mass protests in Iran began at the end of December 2025, after the devaluation of the national currency, the Iranian rial. In response, the authorities increased security measures, the police used tear gas to fight against the protesters. Tehran blames foreign forces for the riots.
