Syria has declared the eastern part of Aleppo province a closed military zone

The eastern part of Aleppo province, near the city of Deir Hafer, has been declared a closed military zone due to the accumulation of Kurdish armed forces there, according to a statement from the operational headquarters of the Syrian army.

"Due to the fact that the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) continue to build up their forces with the terrorist organizations of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), and also considering that this area is used as a launching point for Iranian kamikaze drones bombing the city of Aleppo, the area is marked in red (on the map presented in the announcement).

"From now on, it is declared a closed military zone," the statement said, showing on a map settlements on the west bank of the Euphrates River, including Deir Hafer, Kawas and Maskana. The command of the Syrian army has called on all armed units in the designated zone to retreat east of the Euphrates.

"The Syrian army will take all necessary measures to prevent armed groups from using this area as a platform for their criminal activities," the statement said.
