The US Coast Guard seized a record 231.8 tons of drugs in 2025

The US Coast Guard seized nearly 231.8 tons of drugs worth $3.8 billion in 2025, the highest amount in its history.

“In 2025, Coast Guard operations in the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean recorded the highest annual drug interdiction rate in their history.

More than 511,000 pounds (about 231.8 tons) of narcotics, valued at more than $3.8 billion, were seized, damaging international criminal gangs," said a report released by the Coast Guard, a separate branch of the US military.

The document states that its representatives have prevented 193 million "potentially lethal doses" of drugs from entering the United States, thus "saving American taxpayers more than $10 billion."

It noted that the US Coast Guard also apprehended more than 11,000 illegal immigrants last year. It explains that motorboats, ships, planes and drones have been used to stem the flow of illegal maritime migration.
