Bill Gates spoke about the risks of developing artificial intelligence

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates published an annual review titled "Optimism with Notes" in which he presented his assessment of the current state and prospects for the development of artificial intelligence. Acknowledging the enormous potential of the technology, he pointed out the systemic risks associated with its rapid and poorly regulated implementation.

Gates believes that the artificial intelligence market resembles the era of "dotcoms". the growth of investors' interest is accompanied by the formation of a "bubble" in which a significant number of companies may be overvalued. He believes that a significant part of investments in artificial intelligence startups will ultimately not provide the expected returns and lead to a loss of capital.

At the same time, Gates emphasizes that artificial intelligence is probably the most transformative tool ever created by mankind. Its impact, according to the entrepreneur, will exceed the impact of previous technological revolutions. However, it is precisely due to changes of this scale that the risks increase.

The article pays special attention to security issues. Gates expressed concern that artificial intelligence could be used by both governments and private organizations for destructive purposes, including terrorism. In this regard, he called for the development of general international rules and restrictions regulating the creation and use of artificial intelligence systems.
