Iran has condemned the kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro by US special forces, the spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghai, announced.
"The kidnapping of the country's president can never be justified. This abduction is completely illegal and we express our solidarity with the countries that opposed this operation," he said at a press conference broadcast by Iran's state broadcaster.
On January 3, US President Donald Trump announced the start of a military operation in Caracas, as a result of which US forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
