Spain is ready to explore the possibility of strengthening Greenland's security through NATO

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Jose Manuel Albarez, stated that he is ready to discuss the issue of strengthening Greenland's security through NATO, if there is any threat in the region.

"If there are currently factors or situations regarding Greenland or the Arctic that may threaten the security of the Atlantic Ocean, I am sure that we can all analyze it, and if it is necessary to strengthen security, it will be done," the diplomat was quoted as saying by EFE.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs added that he does not even consider the possibility of a US attack on Greenland as a hypothesis. He noted that if Denmark believes that the Euro-Atlantic security is "not sufficiently protected, then Spain, together with its NATO allies, is ready to "analyze, study and strengthen it".

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated the need for Greenland to join the United States.
