The Austrian Federal Army will receive 16 "Leopard" tanks and 37 armored personnel carriers by 2026, "Kurier" reports, referring to the Ministry of Defense's plans to modernize the army this year.
"The armored vehicle component includes nine upgraded Ulan armored personnel carriers, 16 upgraded Leopard tanks and 28 new Pandur wheeled armored personnel carriers," the publication writes. The ministry also plans to purchase 855 military all-terrain vehicles to upgrade its existing truck fleet.
In the field of air support, the delivery of the first 12 AW169M multi-role helicopters and the transfer of two modernized S-70 Black Hawk helicopters to the army are planned.
