The Head of Diplomacy of the European Union, Kaya Kalas, expressed readiness to propose new sanctions against Iran in connection with the protests taking place in the country.
According to him, "the EU has already imposed large-scale sanctions against Iran against people responsible for human rights violations, the expansion of its nuclear program and Tehran's support to Russia in connection with the Ukraine conflict."
"And I am ready to propose additional sanctions in response to the brutal pressure on the protesters," Callas told the German Welt newspaper.
He emphasized that violence against peaceful demonstrators is "unacceptable".
