Denmark views the meeting with Rubio as an opportunity for direct contact

Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen has confirmed a meeting between Danish representatives and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the Greenland issue and said he believes it is appropriate for politicians to negotiate directly rather than through the media.

"This is a necessary dialogue that the Danish government has requested with the Greenland government. I think this is really good news," Danmarks radio quoted the Danish minister as saying.

"This shows that we now have the opportunity to communicate directly, not through the media, and a meeting is always a good idea," he noted.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on January 7 that he plans to hold a meeting next week to discuss the issue of Greenland.
