Rubio to discuss control of Greenland in Denmark

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio plans to meet with Danish authorities next week to discuss the situation around Greenland. He told journalists about this, reports RIA Novosti.

"I will meet with them next week and we will discuss it," he said when asked why the US administration does not accept Copenhagen's offer to discuss this issue and whether the US is ready to rule out military intervention.

US interest in the island has increased against the backdrop of recent events in Venezuela. Last week, US President Donald Trump announced that Greenland should be controlled by the United States and the European Union for national security. He claimed that Denmark, which controls the island, is unable to secure it, while Chinese and Russian ships have already surrounded the island.
