Florida authorities intend to press charges against Maduro

Florida authorities are "seriously considering" the possibility of filing illegal immigration and drug-trafficking charges against kidnapped Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, according to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.

"We are very seriously discussing the possibility of initiating a case against Nicolás Maduro at the state level. When I say "we", I don't just mean me personally. I will of course support this case, but it will be handled by the attorney general's office," DeSantis told reporters, according to the Miami Herald.

The governor also claimed that Maduro is "heavily involved in drug trafficking, especially in Florida."
