China will always be a friend and partner of Latin American countries, and Beijing's foreign policy towards the region will not change despite US actions in Venezuela, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jiang said at a briefing on Monday.
"Regardless of the changes in the international situation, China will always be a good friend and partner for the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean," the diplomat said when asked if Beijing would review its foreign policy toward countries in the region after the US military operation in Venezuela.
Lin Jiang emphasized that China's cooperation with Latin American countries has always been based on the principles of equality, mutual benefit and mutually beneficial results.
According to him, Beijing has never sought to create spheres of influence or target any country.
