Bulgaria has officially switched to the euro, we learn from the website of the European Commission.
For one month, the Bulgarian lev, the country's national currency, will circulate alongside the euro, after which the lev will be completely withdrawn from circulation. The fixed exchange rate was set at 1.95583 bel per 1 euro.
Bulgaria becomes the 21st country out of 27 members of the European Union to join the Eurozone.
The experts of the European Central Bank confirm that Bulgaria has fulfilled all the necessary conditions for the adoption of the single European currency.
