US President Donald Trump stated in an interview with the "New York Post" that Washington still does not intend to follow Israel in recognizing Somaliland.

"No," the publication quotes his answer to the relevant question. "Everything is still under investigation."

On December 26, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Israel's recognition of the Republic of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state.

Somaliland is internationally recognized as part of Somalia, but the government of Somaliland unilaterally declared state sovereignty in the spring of 1991.
