Azerbaijan and Turkey undertake to provide mutual assistance in case of aggression

Azeri President Ilham Aliyev signed the law "On approving the memorandum on mutual strengthening of military security between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey," Azerbaijani media reported.

According to the agreement, the signatory parties undertake to provide mutual assistance in case of armed aggression against one of them, in order to implement the right of individual and collective self-defense recognized by Article 51 of the UN Charter.

"The parties provide military assistance to each other at the request of one of them and in accordance with the procedures established by their national legislation. In peacetime, as mentioned above, the parties regularly hold joint military exercises and military movements," Azerbaijani media reported.
