At the heart of the pre-election and post-election confrontations in Georgia is the peace/war debate.
This was written by Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of the "I have honor" faction of the National Assembly.
The post specifically states:
"Both the government and the opposition are in favor of European integration, and the main problem lies in tactical issues. The ruling power realizes the role of Russia both as a neighbor and as a geopolitical factor, and no matter how cold or minimal the relations are, it has set itself the task of not allowing them to turn into hostility.
The opposition forces are in favor of a markedly tough stance in relation to the Russian Federation, but their views differ on some issues.
I think that the electoral success of the ruling power was mainly due to the fact that the peace formula it put forward was more comprehensible to the broad sections of the Georgian society.
Simply put, they say that if the opposition won in the country, a new anti-Russian front would open from Georgia, bringing with it a new war and new losses.
One thing is obvious. Armenia needs a stable, peaceful and safe Georgia."
