North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has said that the Republic of Korea's initiative to build a nuclear-powered submarine will lead to instability on the Korean Peninsula, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
The head of state affairs noted the unstable situation in the world, which emphasizes the "right choice" of the DPRK to strengthen its defense capability.
"Comrade Kim Jong-un noted that the Republic of Korea's nuclear submarine development program, which was recently agreed upon with Washington at the request of Seoul, will lead to further instability on the Korean Peninsula, and that we consider this step offensive, which seriously violates our state's security and maritime sovereignty, and is a security threat that must be responded to," the agency quoted the DPRK leader as saying.
