Ankara intends to expand the Turkish maritime security monitoring system to the Black Sea. Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced this on NTV channel.
"We make significant efforts to ensure the safety of shipping. We monitor the passage of ships through all the straits where our shipping monitoring system operates, both in the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus.
We will expand this radar monitoring service to the entire Sea of Marmara region. We plan to extend this system to the Black Sea as well," said the minister.
According to him, the authorities plan to urgently start the implementation of this surveillance system in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea for "better monitoring of the situation in the area from Mersin to Cyprus".
