US military forces have struck a ship believed to be used by drug traffickers in international waters in the eastern Pacific Ocean, the US Southern Command said.
"Intelligence has confirmed that the undercover vessel was traveling along a known drug smuggling route in the Eastern Pacific Ocean and was being used for drug trafficking," X Command said in a statement, adding that one person was killed in the strike.
The command noted that the Joint Task Force "Southern Spear" launched the attack on December 22, on the orders of Defense Secretary Pete Hegsett.
