The President of the European Commission announced that Europe should cover two-thirds of Ukraine's financial needs

The European Union should cover two-thirds of Ukraine's financing needs for 2026-2027, which amounts to 90 billion euros from 137 billion euros. This was announced by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, while speaking before the members of the European Parliament.

"According to IMF estimates, Ukraine needs approximately 137 billion euros in 2026-2027, and the European Union should cover two-thirds of that amount, 90 billion euros," he said.
- The European Commission proposed two options: one based on Russian assets, the other based on the general EU credit.

One thing is clear. we have to make a decision on funding Ukraine for the next two years only at this European Council meeting (EU Summit - TASS). And the EU has already made a very important decision. last week we approved an indefinite freeze on Russian assets, a crucial step for the EU.

According to the head of the European Commission, Russian assets will remain frozen until the EU makes a different decision.
