The US military has hit three ships in the Pacific Ocean

The US military said on Tuesday that it had struck three drug vessels in international waters of the Pacific Ocean, killing eight people on board.

"On December 15, at the direction of Secretary of War Pete Hegsett, Joint Task Force Southern Spear struck three ships belonging to terrorist organizations in international waters," US Southern Command said in a statement.

The Pentagon claims that intelligence indicates the ships followed known drug trafficking routes in the eastern Pacific Ocean and were believed to be involved in drug trafficking. Eight people were killed as a result of the strikes.
