Almost 130,000 children have been displaced in Cambodia due to the conflict with Thailand

Nearly 130,000 Cambodian children and their families have been forced to flee their homes because of a border conflict with Thailand, Cambodia's Information Minister Nate Feaktra said.

"More than 127,000 children have fled with their parents and families, leaving their homes and schools behind," he was quoted as saying by the Khmer Times newspaper.

According to the latest reports, as of December 16, approximately 126,500 families or approximately 422,700 residents from six Cambodian provinces had fled their homes due to the escalation of the border conflict. Among them, approximately 344,000 were women and children.

According to the latest reports, 15 civilians were killed and 76 were injured as a result of shelling in Cambodia. Since the escalation in December, 42 residential buildings, several religious places, as well as urban and road infrastructure have been damaged.
