The EU and the US agreed to provide security guarantees to Kyiv. Mertz

The United States and European Union (EU) countries have agreed to provide Ukraine with security guarantees similar to Article 5 of NATO. Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Mertz announced this at a press conference on December 15.

European states and the United States, as Mertz noted, are ready to work together to ensure Ukraine's security.

"[Ukrainian] President Volodymyr Zelensky referred to Article 5 of the NATO treaty, which means we are talking about similar security guarantees for Ukraine," Mertz said. His speech was broadcast on the website of the German government.
