Grossi believes the UN has forgotten why the organization was created

The General Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, who was nominated by Argentina for the post of UN Secretary General, expressed his opinion that the organization is working badly.

According to him, the UN has forgotten why it was created.

"It was created to prevent wars and ensure peace. If you analyze the hotbeds of war on the map: Sudan, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Thailand and Cambodia, the Sahel, as well as Azerbaijan and Armenia, Gaza, the common denominator is the absence of the United Nations," Grossi said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El País.

In this regard, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency believes that the UN is "acting badly".

When asked whether it is time to elect a woman to the post of UN Secretary General, Grossi answered: "One should be elected for their views, not because after 80 years of men working in this position, it's time for a woman."

The head of the IAEA also said that many criticized him for his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin after the start of the conflict in Ukraine.
