French President Emmanuel Macron has not yet decided whether he will go to Berlin for a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the Ukrainian settlement or not, given the uncertainty surrounding the provision of security guarantees by the United States to Kiev, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported, citing the Elysee Palace.
"He may have matches in Europe next week and Berlin is a great option. The president has not made a decision yet," the agency quoted Macron's anonymous adviser as saying.
During a closed briefing, he explained to journalists the position of the Europeans and Ukraine regarding the possible settlement of the conflict, and also emphasized that Europe insists that the United States provide security guarantees to Kiev before the start of significant negotiations on territorial issues.
