US President Donald Trump announced that Washington is starting to fight against drug smuggling from Latin America by land.
"We have dealt with 96% of drug smuggling by sea, and now we are starting by land. It's much easier to do it by land, and this (US military action) will begin," he said at the medal ceremony for the 1980 US national hockey team's Olympic champions.
Trump noted that the ground strikes "are not necessarily aimed at Venezuela." He said that the target will be "people who smuggle drugs into the United States."
