Cambodia has begun shelling BM-21 multiple-launch missile systems in the eastern provinces of Thailand, the Second Military District of the Royal Thai Army reported.
"Cambodia opened fire first, and the Second Military District had to respond. According to the rules of operations, the threat had to be neutralized and the lives and property of the residents of the border areas protected," the statement said.
On December 8, the Royal Thai Army reported that Cambodian forces had been shelling Thai positions since 5:00 a.m. local time (1:00 a.m. Moscow time). As a result of shelling, one Thai soldier was killed and eight were wounded.
