This week, the number of people killed in a fire that broke out in an apartment complex in the Chinese city of Hong Kong has reached 146, reports AFP.
Disaster recovery officers have found more bodies as they expand their search and examine three more high-rise buildings in the Van Phuc Court district, which was hit by the world's deadliest residential building fire since 1980.
There were 2,000 apartments in the residential area, where more than 4,600 people lived. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but experts say the fire spread quickly due to flammable nets and bamboo scaffolding used during construction work in the buildings. Three people were arrested for involuntary manslaughter: two of the directors of the construction company and the engineer-consultant.
