The US resident, who was the first person infected with the H5N5 bird flu strain in the country's history, has died, the Washington State Department of Health reported.
The Washington State Department of Health reported on November 15 that a Washington resident has been infected with the H5N5 strain of bird flu. According to the department, this was the first reported human case of this type of illness in the United States.
It is reported that the hospitalized man kept domestic birds that came into contact with wild birds, which may have been the source of the infection.
"A resident of Grays Harbor County, who was being treated for the H5N5 strain of bird flu, died Friday," the ministry's official website said.
The infected person was an elderly man who had accompanying health problems.
