The Washington administration believes that Volodymyr Zelensky will have to agree to the new US plan for the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine due to the corruption scandal in the country, Politico reports.
As noted in the publication, the US believes that "the moment is suitable to put pressure on Ukraine to agree to the peace agreements, given that Zelensky's position in the country is now particularly weakened, and the corruption scandal creates serious difficulties for him."
"Ukrainians will have to agree to the agreement, given how weak Zelensky's position is now," a senior White House official told the publication.
