China's foreign ministry has expressed concern about Japan's stance on nuclear weapons

Chinese authorities are deeply concerned about the "negative change" in Japan's position on nuclear disarmament, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jiang.

"China is seriously concerned about the latest developments in Japan's military and security fields. Although it declares itself a peace-loving country and defends a world free of nuclear weapons, the administration of Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has taken an ambiguous and uncertain position on these non-nuclear principles (not possessing, not producing, and not importing relevant weapons into its territory), hinting at a possible retreat from them," he emphasized during a briefing in response to a Chinese journalist's question about how Beijing views Japan's position, which "does not rule out" nuclear weapons. the possibility of commissioning submarines, while Takaichi recently gave an "evasive answer" in parliament on the question of giving up nuclear weapons.

As Lin Jiang explained, Tokyo's position "fully reveals a significant negative shift in the policy of the Japanese authorities, sending dangerous signals to the international community."
