Leaving the EAEU will collapse the RA economy. Russia remains the main trade partner

Leaving the EAEU will deal a big blow to Armenia's economy. Various expert circles make such an observation, adding that in the event of such developments, Armenia will lose most of its export volumes. By the way, according to various data, the EAEU export has increased fivefold in recent years.

Political scientist Suren Surenyants says in a conversation with Euromedia24 that leaving the EAEU will collapse the RA economy, which in turn will cause a serious social crisis. "I hope that the authorities of Armenia will not go to such an adventure, because as a result of this, thousands of people will lose their jobs, there will be such a social tension, the consequences of which will not be compensated.

Most of our economy is oriented towards the EAEU market, it would be a foolish move to abandon it," said Surenyants. Former RA NA Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov also claims that the EAEU is the safest market for the export of Armenian products, and there is no alternative to it at the moment. "Talks about leaving the EAEU are not only not in RA's interests, but are also political charlatanism. The lion's share of Armenia's agricultural exports goes to the Russian and Eurasian markets.

I want to ask a question: how will you sell Armenian brandy, wine, agricultural and other products? The Eurasian Economic Union is a big market that gives the Armenian economy a chance to breathe, and if they abandon this structure, they will become an object of absorption by the Turkish economy," Sharmazanov says, adding that leaving the Eurasian Economic Union is fraught with serious dangers. Thus, various analyzes reaffirm that Russia remains Armenia's main trade partner, accounting for almost half of the country's foreign trade turnover. Most of the Armenian exports go to the Russian market. Experts claim that leaving the EAEU will lead to the loss of markets, jobs and social stability for Armenia.
