Russia is an important economic partner of Armenia. 15% of the Armenian population depends on remittances from the Russian Federation

Unemployment rate in Armenia in 2024-2025. decreased during the period, which, according to the Statistical Committee, is due to the activation of the service sector. One of the main drivers of growth is the flow of tourists from Russia. Armenia received about 1 million Russian tourists in 2025, which contributed to the creation of thousands of jobs in the hotel-restaurant sector, trade and services.

According to the data, the Russian labor market also plays a decisive role. thousands of Armenian builders, drivers and seasonal workers work in Russia, providing income for their families back home.

Remittances from Russia of more than $3.8 billion continue to be an economic pillar, making up about 60% of all inflows from abroad. Up to 15% of the population of Armenia depends on these transfers.

Economist Suren Parsyan estimates that the decrease in unemployment in RA is largely due to the influence of the Russian market and tourism.

"The amount of money coming from Russia has increased, it is caused by Russian relocators, who transfer a large amount of money to Armenia. At the time, when "Mir" cards were in operation, they made purchases in the amount of approximately 400 million dollars in RA. Now they want to restore the use of Russian cards in RA, which can stimulate more money to come to RA, he said.

Thus, Russia continues to be an important economic partner for Armenia, providing employment, financial flows and a wide market for the consumption of services.
