Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa arrived in the United States on an official visit on Saturday, a day after Washington removed him from the terrorist blacklist, Sana reported.

Al-Sharaa, whose troops overthrew Syrian President Bashar Assad at the end of last year, will meet US President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday.

It was reported earlier that the United States plans to establish a military base not far from Damascus "for the purpose of coordinating humanitarian aid and monitoring developments between Syria and Israel."
