Turkey considers the report published by the European Commission on Tuesday, which refers to "democratic values" in the country, to be groundless and biased, according to the Turkish Foreign Ministry's statement.
The European Commission has previously stated that it is not sure that Turkey is fully committed to "democratic values" and notes that the negotiations on EU membership have been deadlocked since 2018. The European Commission presented on Tuesday a report on the progress of the candidate countries on the reforms needed to join the community.
"We reject the biased, biased and baseless claims contained in the European Commission's report on Turkey published today (November 4) regarding the judiciary, fundamental rights and domestic political developments. These comments not only do not correspond to the efforts to create a positive agenda in the relations between Turkey and the EU, but also contradict the long-term interests of both sides," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
