US President Donald Trump has warned on his Truth Social social network page that he may cut most of New York's federal funding if he wins the mayoral election against Zohran Mamdani, the leading candidate of the "Democratic Party".
"If Communist candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the election for mayor of New York, it is highly unlikely that I will provide any federal funding, more than the minimum, to my beloved First House," Trump wrote.
He also expressed the opinion that the American metropolis has no chance of survival under Mamdani's rule. "I am deeply convinced that New York will become a complete economic and social disaster if Mamdani wins," the US president added.
