The death toll from torrential rains in central Vietnam has risen to 42, with fresh flooding in the city of Hue, where 400 residents were evacuated, state news portal VietnamNews reported on Monday.
"To date, 42 people have died or gone missing in the region due to unfavorable weather conditions. Meteorologists warn about further rains," the portal reports.
Earlier, Vietnamese media reported that 37 people died as a result of floods.
“As soon as the floods started to recede in Central Vietnam, the bad weather returned. More than 400 people were evacuated in Hue city, and rivers overflowed their banks in Da Nang," the report said.
